Local Business Project
The Society is working towards a series of booklets, each of which will cover a particular aspect of "A Village at Work", (the provisional series title). To date ten topics have been identified which the Society would like to write about. They are as follows:-
- Working the Land:- farms, and nurseries.
- Retail Delivery:- milk, bread, coal, greengroceries.
- Domestic Utilities:- plumbers, electricians, joiners.
- Transport:- garages, carries, private vehicle hire.
- Shops:- general stores and food.
- Shops:- more specialized goods; clothes, hardware, chemists.
- Leisure Services:- pubs, sports clubs, travel agency.
- Personal Services:- hair, eyes, teeth.
- Financial Services:- banks, Post Offices, insurance, accountants.
- Manufacturing and Wholesaling.
Submissions would be gratefully received from anyone who feels that they have something useful and/or interesting to relate to the Society on any of the above subjects.
